UCCE Shepherd Skills Workshop Wool Handling and Shearing Management

The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) has set dates for the 2019 Shepherd Skills Workshops. Now in its SIXTH year, this workshop series provides hands-on learning opportunities for new and aspiring sheep producers. Led by UCCE livestock and natural resources advisor and sheep producer Dan Macon, as well as other local sheep producers, the workshops will cover a range of sheep management topics, including nutrition, reproduction and grazing management.

Learn how to set up and manage a small- to medium-sized shearing facility for small flocks. Participants will learn about sheep handling, shearing preparation, wool handling, and wool marketing. (Note: this is not a shearing school)
